JON CRANE WATERCOLORS, INC.

A STORY IN STONE

Jon Crane painted A Story in Stone as a memorial for Jay Torgerson, an employee of Custer State Park who lost his life in a tragic accident in the fall of 2005 while goose hunting in the Martin area. His mother, Carol, has been an employee and friend of the Cranes for a number of years, so the family contacted Jon about painting a special piece in Torgerson’s honor
Jon agreed and decided to paint the Peter Norbeck Visitor Center for this special project.
“Before becoming an employee of the park, Jay worked on the Visitor Center and
was always proud of that particular project,” his mother reported.
“This unique painting of the historic building will be a fitting tribute to Jay’s life and his love of the outdoors.”
The print is available for purchase at Custer State Park and all authorized Jon Crane dealers. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Jay Torgerson Memorial Fund.
